Novi Sad, 30 April - President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Juhász Bálint and the President of the Provincial Government, Maja Gojković visited today the Hunting Association Museum of Vojvodina on the occasion of the announcement of the public call for the allocation of funds from the Budget Fund for Hunting Development of the AP Vojvodina for 2026.
“The Provincial Government has allocated 131 million dinars in grant for this purpose, in order to support this important economic sector and improve hunting grounds. Our intention is to reach as many beneficiaries as possible through this public call and further stimulate the development of hunting,” Gojković stated, adding that the call, open until May 8, was announced by the Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry.
As stated, the aim of the call is to improve the condition of game populations and their habitats, equip hunting ground users, monitor the status of certain game species in AP Vojvodina, as well as promote and advance hunting.
The Museum, opened in December 2022 within the Hunting Association of Vojvodina, represents a unique institution in Serbia, showcasing more than a century-long tradition of hunting in the region.
With more than 500 hunting trophies, a rich collection of equipment, archival materials and diverse exhibits, the Museum holds
significant cultural and educational value.
President Gojković emphasised that the visit included discussions on ways to enhance cooperation between the Provincial Government and the hunting association, noting that hunting represents an important economic sector and a major potential for the development of hunting and fishing tourism.
Our goal is to reach the former golden period of hunting in AP Vojvodina, when it was a highly important tourism asset and when organised groups of hunters, particularly from Italy, regularly visited,” Gojković emphasised.
She added that the Provincial Government has a strategy focused on developing tourism through the opening of specialised museums, which can further enrich the tourism offer.
The President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Juhász Bálint, noted that the Hunting Association of Vojvodina has, for more than a century, been a pillar in preserving hunting, maintaining ecological balance and safeguarding the natural wealth of Vojvodina.
He stated that the Hunting Museum, with one of the largest exhibitions of its kind in the region, has a special role, as it is not only a collection of exhibits but also a testament of respect for its founders and for the generations working to preserve and develop hunting, as well as its role in society and nature conservation.
“In Vojvodina, hunting grounds cover more than two million hectares, and 92 percent are managed by hunting associations, which highlights the importance of local micro-communities in the development of hunting,” Juhász said.
The President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly added that the provincial administration is pursuing a responsible policy in this area, with continuous investments in hunting, hunting lodges, equipment, vehicle procurement and the restoration of game stocks.
“Hunting, the hunting sector and hunting tourism have significant potential. Efforts should be intensified to further promote them, as we already attract a considerable number of foreign tourists, from Italy, Germany, Austria and England. Hunting is an example of how tradition, responsibility towards nature and economic development – particularly in tourism – can go hand in hand, which is why we will continue to support this sector,” Juhász emphasised.
The President of the Hunting Association of Vojvodina Slobodan Milošev expressed gratitude to the Provincial Government and the Assembly of Vojvodina for their continuous support, voicing confidence that such support will continue in the period ahead.
