Subotica, 1 April - President of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Bálint Juhász and President of the Provincial Government, Maja Gojković, visited today investment projects in Subotica and Stara Moravica, where they reviewed the pace of implementation of key infrastructure projects.
During their visit to Subotica, the delegation first held a meeting in the City Hall with representatives of the local self-government, which was followed by the tour of the construction works of the sewage network in the Dinka Zlatarića and Ptujska streets and the reconstruction of the Mačvanska Street.
President of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Bálint Juhász noted that the Provincial Government continued significant investments in the development of Subotica through the improvement of road infrastructure, construction of the water supply and sewage network, as well as through projects in the fields of tourism and cultural heritage protection. Particular emphasis was placed on projects that contributed to greater safety and quality of life of citizens, as well as to the balanced development covering both urban and rural parts.
“Everything we do together is aimed at the well-being of all citizens living in Subotica and across the territory of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. We invest not only in major city centres, but also in suburban areas, recognising the needs of local communities. We place special value on the preservation of cultural heritage as well as on implementing projects that improve citizens’ daily lives and strengthen the overall development of the Province”, Juhász stated.
President Gojković recalled that the Provincial Government earmarked 150 million dinars through the Vojvodina Capital Investments Office for the improvement of the utility infrastructure in eleven streets, creating over three kilometres of new roads. In addition, significant funds have been invested for the reconstruction of the sewage network in two streets, addressing long-standing issues for citizens and improving living conditions and public health.
“Following major infrastructure projects - the construction of the high - speed railway between Belgrade and Budapest and the opening of the National Theatre, we are focusing on investments that make citizens’ daily life better and of higher quality. That is one of the strategic priorities of the Provincial Government for the upcoming period”, said President Gojković.
After the visit to Subotica, the delegation visited the “Otthon” - Home for Persons with Mental Disabilities in Stara Moravica, where heating system renovation works are underway.
On that occasion, Juhász emphasised that more than 112 million dinars have been invested in this institution since 2022, and that the current investment in the heating system renovation is crucial for ensuring adequate living conditions for its residents.
“Equally important to us is taking care of the most vulnerable groups of the population. Our goal is to ensure dignified and safe conditions for all residents”, noted Juhász.
President Gojković emphasised that the provincial administration has been pleased to fund projects necessary to ensure proper care for the home’s residents, with equipment that is modern and of the highest standard.
“When a person is in a position to make decisions at any point in their life, it is important to make sound choices that contribute to a better life for those who need help the most”, President Gojković stated.
The Presidents of the Provincial Assembly and Government were welcomed in Subotica by the Deputy Mayor Góli Csilla, the President of the City Assembly Daniel Đivanović and the Assistant for Communal Activities and Public Enterprises Srđan Samardžić. Vice President of the Provincial Government - Provincial Secretary for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities - National Community Róbert Ótott and Deputy Provincial Secretary for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Zoltan Tot were also present during the visit.
