25. 03. 2026.Juhász: Digitalisation for Enhanced Protection of Cultural Heritage

Senta, 25 March - President of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Bálint Juhás attended today the conference and roundtable “Public Collections in Cultural Mediation – The Role and Challenges of Institutions Managing Public Collections in the Online (Digital) Space in the 21st Century” held in the ceremonial hall of the City Hall in Senta.

The event brought together representatives of relevant cultural institutions, as well as experts in the fields of digitalisation and cultural heritage preservation from Serbia, Hungary and Romania, with the aim of exchanging experiences and strengthening cooperation in the domain of public collections and the digital cultural space.

Addressing the attendees, Juhás emphasised that digitalisation today goes beyond a technical framework and is becoming a key cultural issue.

“Digitalisation today is no longer just a tool, but a way of thinking. It enables us to make cultural heritage accessible, understandable, and alive,” Juhás emphasised, highlighting the particular importance of this topic for Vojvodina as a multicultural environment.

“In a region such as Vojvodina, where heritage is multilingual and multi-layered, digitalisation is also a matter of identity. What is not present in the digital space is increasingly absent from the collective consciousness,” Juhás stated, adding that modern technologies open new opportunities for the preservation and interpretation of cultural heritage.

“Artificial intelligence is no longer a promise of the future, but a reality that helps us better understand and present our own heritage,” said President of the Assembly of the AP Vojvodina, underlining the importance of bringing cultural heritage closer to younger generations.

The conference was organized by the Institute for the Culture of Vojvodina Hungarians in cooperation with the National Council of the Hungarian National Community, with the participation of numerous regional institutions and the support of international projects focused on the digitalisation of cultural heritage.
