Budapest / Novi Sad, 27. February - President of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Bálint Juhász met today in Budapest with the Speaker of the Parliament of Hungary László Kövér to discuss further enhancement of institutional cooperation, improvement of parliamentary ties and advancement of relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Hungary.
Juhász and Kövér met on the sidelines of the 12th Conference of Speakers of the Parliaments of South East European Countries, traditionally organised every second year by the Speaker of the Parliament of Hungary.
“Parliamentary cooperation is an important part of the overall cooperation and good relations between our two states. It is precisely through intensive dialogue and mutual understanding at the parliamentary level that we further strengthen the Serbian-Hungarian partnership and contribute to the stability and advancement of the entire region” said President Juhász.
He added that the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina would remain committed to fostering close relations with Hungarian institutions as well as to cooperation that contributes to the economic development, the preservation of the cultural identity and the strengthening of ties between communities on both sides of the border.
Juhász and Kövér also discussed the strength of the Hungarian national community in the AP Vojvodina and its important role in the overall relations between Serbia and Hungary. Juhász highlighted the importance of supporting the preservation of cultural and linguistic identity of the Hungarian community as well as its contribution to strengthening interstate relations and regional cooperation.
Speaker of the Parliament of Hungary emphasised that the Hungarian community in Vojvodina, with its instructional development, cultural strength and active participation in public life, represents a strong pillar of stability and a natural bridge of cooperation between Serbia and Hungary.
