23. 01. 2026.Juhász: Culture Is the Foundation for Preserving Identity, Language and Tradition

Senta, 23 January  –President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Juhász Bálint, attended today in Senta the central ceremonial event marking the Day of Hungarian Culture in Vojvodina. The event brought together numerous representatives of cultural, public and political life.

President Juhász emphasised that, for the Hungarian community in Vojvodina, culture represents the foundation for preserving identity, language and tradition, while also serving as an important bridge of cooperation and mutual understanding among the peoples living in this region.

“Hungarian culture in Vojvodina is not only part of the cultural heritage of one community, but also a valuable component of the overall cultural diversity of our province and the Republic of Serbia. The provincial administration remains committed to supporting institutions, artists, and projects that contribute to the preservation of identity and to strengthening mutual respect and cooperation,” Juhász underlined.

He assessed that the Day of Hungarian Culture in Vojvodina represents one of the most important dates for the Hungarian community, as it encourages gathering around a common goal – the preservation of cultural heritage and the strengthening of the visibility of Hungarian culture in public life.

The ceremony is traditionally organised by the Cultural Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians and the Institute for the Culture of Vojvodina Hungarians, under the auspices of the National Council of the Hungarian National Minority. This year, it was held as part of the programme “The Hungarian-Serbian Cultural Season 2025/2026 .”

As part of the ceremony, awards and plaques were presented to individuals and institutions whose work has left a significant mark on the preservation of the culture, language, and identity of the Hungarian community in Vojvodina.

The attendees were also addressed by Member of Parliament Pásztor Bálint, President of the National Council of the Hungarian National Minority Árpád Fremond, and State Secretary at the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation, Anita Kiss-Hegyi.
