Novi Sad, 4 April - President of the Provincial Government Maja Gojković and President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly Juhász Bálint have visited Kanjiža today and discussed, with the officials of the municipality, plans for the development of infrastructure, focusing on healthcare, education and tourism.

On this occasion, presidents Gojković and Juhász visited the Special hospital for rehabilitation “Banja Kanjiža”, where they discussed the need to reconstruct the spa complex.

Afterwards, they visited the Wrestling Academy Vojvodina, intended for those young people who see their sports future in our most trophy-laden Olympic sport, as well as the school farm within the Agricultural-Technical Secondary School Centre “Beszédes József”.

“The Provincial Government has allocated 50 million RSD for the first phase of renovation of the “Banja Kanjiža”, because nobody has invested in it for decades. I anticipate that we will pass the decision on the consent for all necessary permits in order to commence the replacement of the glass facade around the pool intended for therapies”, said President Gojković and added that the next investment would be the purchase of new therapy bathtubs.

President Gojković pointed out that the Municipality management made long-term plans, such as the construction of the recreational spa centre in the vicinity of the “Banja Kanjiža”.

“This is exceptionally important for our province and the municipality of Kanjiža, as it can improve lives of the local citizens and enable the creation of new jobs and attract tourists” said President Gojković.

President Gojković also mentioned that, during the visit, they also discussed the need to construct a dormitory for the students of the Secondary Agricultural School, which would be available to those attending the Wrestling Academy Vojvodina as well, which, she opined, had a great sports potential for our country.

“We will discuss the funds that are necessary for the implementation of this investment, since the project design has already begun and there is a plan to support this venture next year through the Administration for Capital Investments”, said President Gojković

President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly Juhász Bálint emphasised the importance of the Wrestling Academy Vojvodina and said it symbolised the Hungarian-Serbian cooperation and friendship. He underscored that the special value of the Wrestling Academy Vojvodina was in the fact that children from both communities trained there and that their success and won medals were cherished by both the Republic of Serbia and Hungary.

“This is a good foundation for our future cooperation. This institution is an example how Kanjiža can grow to become a true secondary school centre”, said Juhász and added that, in addition to Senta, there were plans to construct a dormitory for students in Kanjiža as well.

He stated that the Municipality of Kanjiža had successful entrepreneurs and businessmen and expressed his conviction that good cooperation with the local self-government would continue, which would greatly contribute to the further development of this municipality.

President of the Municipality of Kanjiža Robert Fejstamer thanked presidents Gojković and Juhász for their visit, emphasising that they spoke of exceptionally important development projects today.

“As a local self-government, we will continue to work closely with the provincial institutions. So far, we have had great cooperation with the Province and I anticipate that this will be the case in the future as well”, stated Fejstamer.

The event was also attended by the Vice President of the Provincial Government and the Provincial Secretary for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Communities-National Minorities, Róbert Ótott.
