Novi Sad, 23 January – President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina Bálint Juhás, together with vice-presidents Nemanja Zavišić and Boris Novaković, attended today the commemoration of the 83rd Novi Sad Raid anniversary

The AP Vojvodina Assembly delegation laid a wreath at  “The Family” monument in Kej žrtava racije (Quay of the Raid Victims) in Novi Sad, as a sign of remembrance of more than four thousand people who were killed, the majority of whom were Serbian, Jewish and Roma people.

Those present were addressed by Milan Đurić, the Mayor of Novi Sad. The memorial service by the Jewish community was held by Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Serbia, Mr Isaac Asiel and that of the Serbian Orthodox Church by Metropolitan Irinej of Bačka, along with the service by Bishop of Mohacs, Damaskin and the clergy of Novi Sad.

As a sign of remembrance of the innocent victims, wreaths were also laid by representatives of the Provincial Government, Embassy of Israel, Embassy of Hungary, City of Belgrade and other cities in Serbia, Jewish and Roma communities, descendants of the victims and other, which was followed by the ceremonial wreath laying in the Danube river from the Serbian River Flotilla ship.
