03. 12. 2024.President Juhász and Swedish Ambassador on economy and green transition

Novi Sad, 3 December - President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Bálint Juhász received today Ms. Charlotte Sammelin, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Serbia, who he talked to about economic and trade cooperation, green transition and Serbia’s accession the European Union.

President Juhász and Ambassador Sammelin expressed their satisfaction with the exceptionally high level of bilateral relations between Serbia and Sweden and the fact that the diplomatic relations of the two countries have been ongoing for more than a century. 

President Juhász noted that the AP Vojvodina is very interested in enhancing the economic cooperation with the Swedish regions and investors, and that these endeavours are given an excellent backdrop in the fact that this country is the leader among the Scandinavian countries in the foreign trade exchange with Serbia. 

“We are convinced that our potential, which lies within the IT industry and agriculture, can be attractive to Swedish investors. I believe that the breakthrough we have made in connecting these two sectors is appreciable not only for our region and country, but for the entire Europe”, said Juhász, putting forward the BioSense Institute, digital farms in Bačka Topola and a digital village in Mokrin as examples.

He thanked Sweden, as well as the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency for their current assistance and action on the promotion of social dialogue and gender equality, and their overall support in the European integrations of the Republic of Serbia.

Juhász and Sammelin discussed the cooperation models in the field of green transition in our country and the importance of including a broader social community in this process. 

Ambassador Sammelin pointed out that Sweden, as well as the other Nordic countries, would continue to promote their experience in terms of sustainable development and green and smart cities, while adding that the Republic of Serbia’s efforts in raising awareness and ecological standards had been evident.

They also touched on the specific features of Vojvodina as a multinational and multicultural region, and the notable legislative framework of the Republic of Serbia in the field of the protection of rights of national communities.
