15. 11. 2024.Juhász: Vojvodina is the place of encounter and cooperation of education and science

Novi Sad, 15 November -  President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Juhász Bálint attended today the Second Serbian-Hungarian Rectors’ Conference at the University of Novi Sad, organised by the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference (HRC) together with the Conference of the Universities of Serbia (CONUS).

Addressing the audience, President Juhász expressed his great satisfaction that the Second Serbian-Hungarian Rectors’ Conference was being held in Novi Sad, as well as that the two-day Hungarian Rectors’ Conference had begun the previous day in Subotica, with presence of representatives of our universities, concluding that this was another proof that AP Vojvodina was the place of encounter and cooperation, both in the field of science and education, as well as in many other areas.

Speaking about the educational institutions in our province, President Juhas said that it was extremely important in the AP Vojvodina to have a possibility of taking entrance examinations in the mother tongue. He emphasised that entrance examinations could be taken in national minority languages at four higher vocational schools, as well as at 11 out of the 14 faculties founded by the AP Vojvodina.  He added that the greatest number of students who take this opportunity belonged to the Hungarian national community.

“In Articles 17 and 18 of the Agreement on Cordial Relations and  Cooperation in the Field of Strategic Partnership, signed by the governments of the Republic of Serbia and Hungary, it is pointed out that both sides would encourage direct cooperation between their educational and cultural institutions and they supported the training of intellectuals and deepening of active relations in the field of higher education and professional training, as well as that they would maintain a regular dialogue with the aim of mutually encouraging the student mobility”, president Juhász stated. He added that the Second Serbian-Hungarian Rectors’ Conference, along with a great number of joint projects of our universities, financed from the EU funds, is a confirmation that it is possible to turn the items of a political document into reality.

In talking about the cooperation results, president Juhász mentioned two publishing ventures, the Serbian - Hungarian Dictionary by Mirjana Burzan PhD and Ágnes Kacziba PhD, published by the "Forum" Publishing Company in 2016 and the Hungarian-Serbian Phraseological Dictionary from 2024, authored by professor Edit Andrić.

Participants in the work of the Second Serbian-Hungarian Rectors’ Conference included prof. Dejan Madić, PhD, the rector of the University of Novi Sad, prof. Vladan Đokić PhD, the rector of the University of Belgrade and president of the Conference of Universities of Serbia (CONUS), prof.
