Novi Sad, 23 July - President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly Balint Juhász and president of the Provincial Government Maja Gojković visited Palić today, where they went to see the Palić Water Tower and Aqua Park, as well as other tourist attractions that have recently been constructed or renovated with the funds from the republic, provincial and the City of Subotica budget.

President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly Balint Juhász stressed that Palić had the potential to become a European-level tourist destination, which is something the former president Istvan Pásztor also believed in, being strongly committed to further development of Palić.

“We owe him for the places we have visited today, because he relentlessly initiated projects and sought partners for their implementation. Owing to his efforts, after forty years, there is finally an aqua park in Palić, welcoming approximately ten thousand tourists per week. The late president Pásztor was committed to preserving the heritage and as a result, the water tower, the symbol of Palić and Subotica, was reconstructed together with the Grand Terrace, the pedestrian path was finished and clearing of the weekend settlement was initiated...  I am certain that he would be greatly proud of that today”, president Juhász said, extending gratitude to Aleksandar Vučić, the president of the Republic of Serbia for the support, as well as to Igor Mirović, the former president of the Provincial Government, the mayor of Subotica Stevan Bakić and president of the Provincial Government Maja Gojković, whose presence indicated her dedication to further development of Palić.

President Juhász added there were some other issues that still needed to be resolved, such as the quality of lake water and increase of tourist capacities.

“The construction of the high-speed rail Belgrade-Budapest and vicinity of Belgrade and the border will contribute to making Palić a European tourist destination we all deserve”, president Juhász stated.

President of the Provincial Government Maja Gojković expressed she was pleased about the completion of reconstruction of the Water Tower, the historical edifice dating back to early 20th century, adding that a parking lot was constructed near the aqua park, with access roads for visitors and the pedestrian path was reconstructed in that part of the lake, which became the Palić promenade.

“We are very proud of the landscaping works and equipping of the Great Park in Palić, aimed at preserving its biodiversity and restoring the rich cultural heritage including the Secession buildings, as well as conforming the infrastructure to the park features, representing a protected cultural and historical complex”, Gojković said.

Valerija Denč, the director of the Park Palić enterprise, managing this important tourist destination, informed the president of the AP Vojvodina Assembly and president of the Provincial Government about the details of most significant projects completed. Also present during the visit were Nemanja Erceg, the Provincial Secretary for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection, Stevan Bakić, the mayor of Subotica, Daniel Đivanović, the president of the City Assembly of the City of Subotica,  Imre Ker, the president of the Assembly of the Park Palić enterprise, members of the City Council of Subotica and provincial deputies.
