Senta/Novi Sad, 16 July- President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Juhász Bálint attended today in Senta the ceremony of signing of the cooperation agreement between the Institute for the Hungarian Culture in Vojvodina and the National Széchényi Library from Budapest.
Addressing the attendees of this ceremony, President Juhász pointed out that for the Institute for the Hungarian Culture in Vojvodina, as well as for the entire Hungarian community in Vojvodina, the signing of this agreement represented a great and important event, which would further advance the development of the Hungarian culture in AP Vojvodina.
„We are proud to have signed the cooperation agreement with the National Library of Hungary and I am sure that the concrete results that will emerge from this valuable synergy, will be seen very soon. As I have been informed, the National Széchényi Library from Budapest will help us digitise the documents in its possession, which are very important from a local historical point of view for the Vojvodina region and for the preservation of the Hungarian cultural heritage“, Juhász said.
He found the initiative that will result from this agreement particularly important, that is the digitalisation of the archive of the newspaper „Torontál“, which is a magazine with a long history and tradition of importance for the Hungarian community. He emphasised that in this way valuable archival material, which possessed the history of the Hungarian community in Banat and beyond, would finally be available to all interested parties, especially scientists, historians and chroniclers.
Fremond Árpád, president of the National Council of the Hungarian National Minority and co-founder of the Institute for the Hungarian Culture in Vojvodina, also addressed the audience.
The ceremony in Senta was attended by a delegation from the National Széchényi Library, the National Council and the Institute for the Hungarian Culture in Vojvodina, as well as representatives of Vojvodina libraries and cultural institutions.
