25. 06. 2024.President Juhász at the reception on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe

Belgrade/Novi Sad, 25 June – Today in Belgrade, President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Juhász Bálint attended an official reception on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Council of Europe.

Janoš Babić, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade and Tanja Miščević, Minister of European Integration in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, addressed the audience at the ceremony held on the occasion of the great jubilee, while Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, also addressed the audience via video message.

As pointed out in the presentations, during its long history, the Council of Europe has tried to set and preserve legal standards in the field of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, with the aim of 46 member states living in peace and security.

In the year of marking the jubilee, a number of programmes and projects were organised throughout Europe, as well as in the Republic of Serbia, for the purpose of promoting and improving the values for which the Council of Europe has been advocating for three quarters of a century.

The Republic of Serbia has been a member of the Council of Europe since 2003 and the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade, in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Serbia and other competent institutions, is particularly engaged in the reform process, especially in the promotion of democracy and good governance and the improvement and protection of human rights and the rule of law, in order to fulfill the conditions for the EU membership.
