12. 06. 2024.AP Vojvodina Assembly Delegation at the meeting of the Bureau of the Assembly of European Regions (AER)

Batumi/Novi Sad, 12 June - The delegation of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, members of which included President  Juhász Bálint and Vice-Presidents Damir Zobenica and Aleksandra Maletić, participates in the General Session of the Assembly of European Regions (AER), which is being held in the Georgian city of Batumi, in the Province of Ajara.

During the day, President Juhász and Vice-President Zobenica, who is also the AER Vice-President in charge of regional economic development, participated in the AER Bureau meeting, which is the executive body of this organisation, where they discussed the AER’s political priorities for the period 2024 - 2031.

President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Juhász Bálint pointed out that the provincial Assembly would continue to participate in all programmes and projects of the Assembly of European Regions in this mandate, which could contribute to the continuation of creating a positive image of the AP Vojvodina and the Republic of Serbia in European circles, as well as in those that would bring specific benefits to our citizens.

“As it has been the case until now, we will remain a reliable partner to this large network of European regions. The fact that Vice-President Zobenica is a long-term Vice-President of the AER in charge of regional economic development, is also of great importance, because economic development is certainly one of the priorities and policy pillars of our provincial administration,” said President Juhász and emphasised that the AP Vojvodina would continue to foster and expands networks of cooperation and partnerships with regions from all over Europe.

Vice-President Damir Zobenica emphasised that, regardless of all the challenges Europe was currently facing, they should not decisively affect interregional and economic cooperation, which was aimed at the prosperity of the region and the improvement of the quality of life of citizens.

“The potential for social, economic and environmental transformation is inexhaustible and if we use it, we can create new, sustainable jobs, enable greater social justice and build a more prosperous future for all regions across Europe,” stated Vice- President Zobenica, who informed the AER members that preparations were underway for the 7th Regional Business Forum, which would traditionally be held in Novi Sad in the fall and organised by the AP Vojvodina Assembly, the AER, the Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina and others. 

While participating in the meeting of the Executive Board, he reminded the AER members of the successful results of this significant business event in Novi Sad and invited them to use the opportunity to present their investment and business potential and ideas, find and exchange experiences with companies and institutions at the event which had an international character. 

 “I am convinced that there is a lot of unused space that the AER members should additionally fill with specific contents and the AP Vojvodina is ready to be a partner to all of those who have similar ambitions,” said Zobenica.

Tomorrow, the delegation of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina will participate in the 8th  Black Sea Summit on the subject of the enlargement of the European Union and the Black Sea region, as well as in the AER General Assembly.

Since 2002, the AP Vojvodina has been actively participating in the work of the Assembly of European Regions, which is a network that brings together a large number of regions and international organisations.

Through its work within the AER, Vojvodina has implemented a large number of joint projects from various fields that contributed to political, economic, educational and cultural cooperation with regions from all over Europe.
