Vice-President Damir Zobenica

Damir Zobenicawas elected a Vice-President of the Assembly of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina at the first session of the Assembly held on 2 June 2016.

He is a member of the Serbian Progressive Party and member of the parliamentary group "Aleksandar Vučić - SERBIA IS WINNING" at the AP Vojvodina Assembly.

Duties in the Assembly

  • Vice-President of the Assembly of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina;
  • member of the Committee on Administrative and Mandate Issues;
  • member of the Committee on European Integration and Interregional Cooperation.

 

Biography

He was born in Pula on 15 April 1981.

He completed the Grammar School "Svetozar Marković" in Novi Sad and later graduated from the Sociology Department at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad. During the studies, he spent six months in the United States of America, attending the "Work and Travel" programme.

Mr Zobenica started a political career in 2008 as one of the founders of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in Novi Sad. In 2012, he became a member of the party’s Main Board, in 2014 the vice-president of the Executive Board and in 2016 a member of the Presidium of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

He entered his first political function in 2009, when he became the president of the local community of Sremska Kamenica. After that he became a councilor at the City of Novi Sad, and in 2012 a deputy at the AP Vojvodina Assembly, elected according to the majoritarian electoral system.

He worked as an advisor to the Mayor of Novi Sad from 2012 to 2016.

He has been a member of the Management Board of the Development Fund of AP Vojvodina since 2016. He was previously a member of the Management Board PC "Business Premises" Novi Sad, as well as member of the Supervisory Board of "The Free Trade Zone" Novi Sad.

Since 2016, he has been a member of the Committee 1 of the Assembly of European Regions (AER – Europe’s largest network of regions), dealing with issues of economy and regional economic cooperation. From 2016 to 2017 he held the position of the vice-president of this Committee.

Since 2017 he has held the position of the vice-president of the Assembly of European Regions (AER), to which he was elected at the General Assembly organised in St. Pölten (Upper Austria region). His responsibilities include interregional diplomacy and the Black Sea cooperation.

In addition to native Serbian, he speaks fluent English and basic Italian.

He is married and father of two children.
