Vice-President Damir Zobenica

Damir Zobenica was elected the Vice-President of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina at the constitutive session of the Assembly held on April 25, 2024.

He is a member of the Serbian Progressive Party and a member of the Deputies’ Group “ALEKSANDAR VUČIĆ – VOJVODINA MUST NOT STOP” in the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

Biography

He was born  in Pula on 15 April 1981.

He completed the Grammar School "Svetozar Marković" in Novi Sad and later graduated from the Sociology Department at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.  During the studies, he spent six months in the United States of America, attending the "Work and Travel" programme.

Mr Zobenica started a political career in 2008 as one of the founders of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in Novi Sad. In 2012, he became a member of the party’s Main Board, in 2014 the Vice-President of the Executive Board and in 2016 a member of the Presidium of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

His first political position was that of the President of the local community of Sremska Kamenica in 2009. After that he became a Councillor at the City of Novi Sad, and in 2012 a Deputy at the AP Vojvodina Assembly, elected according to the majoritarian electoral system.

He worked as an Advisor to the Mayor of Novi Sad from 2012 to 2016. 

In the 2016-2020 term, he was a Deputy and Vice-President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina, from the list "Aleksandar Vučić - Serbia wins", he was re-elected to the position of Vice-President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina in the 2020-2024 term from the list "Aleksandar Vučić - For our children".

He has been a member of the Management Board of the Development Fund of AP Vojvodina since 2016. He was previously a member of the Management Board PC "Poslovni prostor” (Business Premises) Novi Sad, as well as member of the Supervisory Board of "The Free Trade Zone" Novi Sad.

In the period 2016-2017, he was a member of the Committee 1 of the Assembly of European Regions (AER – Europe’s largest network of regions), dealing with issues of economy and regional economic cooperation. From 2016 to 2017 he held the position of the Vice-President of the Assembly of European Regions in charge of diplomacy and Black Sea Cooperation and in 2019 he was re-elected the Vice-President of the Assembly of European Regions (AER) in charge of regional and economic development. He was re-elected the Vice-President of the Committee 1 of the Assembly of European Regions in 2023.

In addition to native Serbian, he speaks fluent English and basic Italian.

He is married and father of two children.
